Answer to Week 7 big question
Well done Tayla the answer to week 7 big question is the Web Eliis cup.
Did You know?
Who was William Webb Ellis ?
William was a pupil at Rugby School in Warwickshire during the early 19th century. He has become known as the boy who created Rugby Union. The legend has it that during a football (soccer) training session in 1823, the 16-year-old schoolboy caught the round ball and ran with it.
The Webb Ellis Cup is made of gilt silver with a glimmering gold exterior.
The cup was created by Garrard’s Crown Jewellers of London, which also created the America’s Cup.
It measures 38 centimetres high.
Australia was the first country to win the William Webb Ellis Cup twice (1991 and 1999), followed by South Africa (1995 and 2007).
New Zealand (1987) and England (2003) have both won it once.
