Doubles

This week we have been learning our doubles to 10.

Verbs

We have been learning about verbs. Verbs are words that tell you what people, animals or things are doing.
We made a word cloud of the verbs we could think of.



We then had to write a sentence using a verb. Some of us wrote our sentence straight onto the blog.

Mystery Reader

This week our mystery reader was Mrs Wilson. She helps Mrs Benton in the office as well as taking some of us to help with our writing and learn our alphabet and their sounds. Mrs Wilson read a funny book about a boy who had urgent business. We enjoyed the story that she read to us. Thank you Mrs Wilson.

Answer to week 1 big question

The answer to this weeks question was a cheetah. We found this video clip which told us how fast the cheetah is.

Discovery

Today we had discovery time. First we had to plan what we were going to do and what equipment we might need. We soon realised that we needed to do a little research. some of us were unsure what castles looked like so we need to have a look at pictures.Others of us had to think about what we could use to make a wand to blow bubbles.

While we were doing our task we had to think about how it might turn out and what we could do to make it better. Listen to some of our reflections on what we need to do next.

Hip hop

Today for dance we strated to learn how to do hip hop. We used this You tube clip to learn from.

Christchurch Earthquake

In the holidays Mrs Robertson went down to Christchurch. While down there she saw some of the devastation that was caused by the earthquake.

At Carlton School we having been looking at the Habits of Mind. We all looked at Persisting and what it meant to us. This is what Room 12 thinks Persisting is.

Fractions

Skyping Room 19

Today we skyped Room 19 Woodscroft School in Adelaide. We talked about Koko and Piata and what they have been doing. We tried to teach them to count to 10 in Maori. We had fun talking to Room 19 and would like to do it again soon.

This week for shared reading we are reading 'where the wild things are' by Maurice Sendax.
