We read the big book 'The Jigaree' by Joy Cowley. With Mrs Derby we drew our own Jigaree. We think they are pretty neat.

Skyping

Today we had a skype session with  Mrs Sanchez class  from Wichita, KS. America. It was only Thursday in America and for us it was Friday. Mrs Robertson read The Pungapeople of Ninety Mile Beach then MrS Sanchez read us a story about school. We enjoyed the story, and are looking forward to skyping with them again.

Certificates

Today in Junior Assembly the Giraffes reading  group received certificates as they are  remembering to use their reading strategies when they come to words they don't know and then they re-read. WOW what great readers you are becoming.

Moth or butterfly?

Today the Giraffes Reading group read the book 'The Baby Owls'. In the book there was a moth. Many of us do not know the difference between a moth and a butterfly so we decided that we would find out the differences between a moth and a butterfly.

Week 4 Mystery Reader

This week our mystery reader was Marty Benton. Marty is not only our office lady Mrs Benton husband but he is also a firemen. We were allowed to try on his helmet and his jacket which we discovered was very heavy. Marty then read us to stories. We enjoyed being read to by Marty. Thank you.
